To Whom It May Concern:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity in years past.   It is because of people like you that over 596 children had smiling faces on Christmas morning in 2014.  Your generous donation this past year was used for gifts benefiting 300 families and 596 children.  Thank you!

Once again we are seeking your support in an effort to provide toys and gifts for children of low income families of Jefferson County.  As you know this program was created in 1974 as a means to provide gifts to the children of needy families in the Tri-Area at Christmas time.  In 2013 our organization was asked to take on those families in Port Townsend, so our program almost tripled in size to encompass Port Hadlock, Port Ludlow, Nordland, Chimacum and Port Townsend. Programs like this cannot exist without the support of the community and we would like to ask for your generous donation again this year.

As in years past, it is hard to say what will exactly be needed in the way of toys because we try to fulfill a specific wish for each child.  In order to help us to meet those Christmas wishes, we do two things:  First, we establish approximately thirty (30) Giving Trees throughout the community wherein gift tags for specific items can be selected by members of the community to purchase those items.  By selecting a tag and purchasing the requested gift, we are able to fulfill a specific need or wish at Christmas time.  Christmas for Children Giving Trees will be located in the following locations:

Port Ludlow: Port Ludlow Beach Club, Port Ludlow Bay Club, Inn at Port Ludlow, Sound Bank and Kitsap Bank.

Port Hadlock: Hadlock Building Supply, Olympic Equipment Rentals, Kitsap Credit Union, Bank of America, Kitsap Bank, Valley Tavern, Good Sports and Ferino’s Pizza.

Port Townsend:  First Federal, Jefferson Title, Peninsula Credit Union, PT Athletic Club, Henery’s Hardware, Kitsap Credit Union, Hilltop Tavern, Bank of America, Silverwater Café, Evergreen Fitness, Henery's Hardware, Jefferson Healthcare, Highway 20 Roadhouse, Quimper Mercantile, Wells Fargo, PT Golf Course, Kitsap Bank, Fort Worden PDA and Dr. Fordham.

There are always gift tags that are left over from the giving trees that our program must try to fill.   That is where the second opportunity for you to give comes in.  Cash donations are greatly appreciated!. If you would prefer to make a cash donation we would then purchase what is necessary to fill the needs of the children.  We like to take advantage of pre-Christmas sales and purchase early, so it is important to know if you are able to make a donation this year.  Checks may be made payable to “Christmas for Children” and may be mailed to PO Box 267, Port Hadlock, Wa 98339.
